Best Laid Plans, and the Universe Giggles…

Postponing major abdominal surgery, such as a hysterectomy, can offer unexpected benefits beyond the physical realm. It becomes a journey not just of the body, as I am finding out, but of the mind, emotions, and spirit. Recognizing the interconnectedness of these aspects of our being, as I prepare for surgery, I find myself engaging in a holistic approach to preparation.

At the core of this journey lies the acknowledgment of the spiritual significance of the abdominal region, where energy centers, or chakras, reside. Understanding that our lives are inherently holistic. As I embark on this journey delve into my inner world, I am seeking resolution for any unresolved issues that may have manifested in my health condition.

The wait time before surgery becomes a period of introspection and self-discovery, in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali it is a Niyama (ethical code) called Svadiyaya. It offers an opportunity to explore and address emotional and spiritual aspects of one's well-being. Through practices such as journaling, meditation, yoga, and decluttering physical spaces, I prepare myself not just physically, but also spiritually and emotionally for the upcoming procedure.

By nourishing the body with proper nutrition, exercise, and hydration, I optimize my physical health in preparation for surgery. Simultaneously, I now have time to tend to my spiritual and emotional needs, especially as my surgery was postponed. My goal is to creating a harmonious balance between body, mind, and spirit.

Setting boundaries and distancing myself from toxic energies and influences become paramount during this period of preparation. Creating a supportive environment conducive to healing is essential for both the preoperative and postoperative phases of recovery.

In essence, the delay in my abdominal surgery can be seen as an opportunity for profound personal growth and transformation. By embracing the holistic nature of my existence and tending to the needs of body, mind, and spirit, I am navigating this journey with a sense of responsibility, reverence and respect.
